Meet Dr. Kennedy

Dr. Jessamyn Kennedy graduated from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008, and went on to complete an equine internship with Ohio State University. In her clinical practices, she has gained experience practicing with many different species — horses, farm animals, dogs, cats, and even exotics such as lizards, birds, and pocket pets.

Dr. Kennedy is passionate about the human-animal bond and is dedicated to bringing compassion and gentleness to her practice of veterinary medicine. This is particularly true in her work as a hospice and euthanasia practitioner.

She feels called to serve and honor that animal-human bond through Peaceful Shores Veterinary Hospice. Offering hospice care and acting as an end-of-life “midwife,” she can offer a gentle, kind, safe, loving, and compassionate way for your pet and family to say goodbye.

A Holistic View for Best Care

Even before veterinary school, Dr. Jessamyn believed in the harmonious melding of both “conventional” and “alternative” medicine in order to have a full tool bag ensuring that she can offer multiple options for the best treatment of every pet.

She is a long time practitioner of Trigger Point Myotherapy, a modality she brings to some of her hospice care pets — as appropriate — and is a proponent of multimodal pain control.

In-Home Veterinary Hospice

The initial hospice consult visit is all about determining the comfort and well being of your beloved pet. Dr. Kennedy will do a physical exam and address any immediate issues; then she will sit with the family, as a team, to discuss how things are going.

In-Home Veterinary Euthanasia

This is one of the hardest decisions you will make in your pet’s life. Allowing your pet to experience the transition smoothly and peacefully in their own home can make a big difference and not just for the pet.

Cremation & Transportation

It is important to think ahead of what you might like to do with your pet’s remains after passing. Some people prefer to make arrangements on their own, or have Dr. Jessamyn take care of this step.

Dr Kennedy is an amazing ally when your beloved pets need compassionate care and you need help making the best choice in a tough time. When we were really worried and didn’t know what to do, Peaceful Shores picked up the phone and made sure we got the care we needed. When our little guy is ready to head on to the next adventure, we are so grateful to have Peaceful Shores to call upon!
